Registration Day 9th July 2016 Club Woodham: 30/05/16


2016/17 Player Registrations for the new club South Woodham Ferrers United will take place 9th July at Club Woodham, we will also have samples of the new kits available to try for sizing purposes.


U14 Wanderers Reach Cup Final: 12/04/16

U18’s in KO Cup Final This Weekend: 10/03/16


Our U18’s are playing Tiptree Jobserve Whites in the KO Cup Final this Sunday 13th March, if you want to go along and support them kick off is 15:00 at Witham Town FC, Good luck to Brad and his team..


No Training Thursday 10th March: 09/03/16


We have been informed that the 3G pitch will closed for essential maintenance on Thursday 10th March, all training sessions have been cancelled.


Goalkeeper Training Cancelled This Week: 15/02/16


Due to holidays this Thursdays Goalkeeper training has been cancelled, it will resume again next week.


Urgent Training & Matchday Notice W/E 9th & 10th January: 08/01/16


Please note that due to the wet weather the following applies for our training and Matchday venues;

Training: Collingwood, compass, Saltcoats, Meadowbank and WdF (grass pitches) are closed for all training.

Matchday: William De Ferrers (grass pitches), Meadowbank and Saltcoats are closed.

Compass and Collingwood will be subject to a pitch inspection tomorrow.


Managers Meeting 20th January: 06/01/16


Please note that the next managers meeting will be Wednesday 20th January 2016, at Club Woodham. As with the previous meeting it will be split into two sessions;

Superstrikers - U10's: 19:30 - 20:30

U11's - men's : 20:30 - 21:30

Please can you make sure a representative from each team is in attendance.


Urgent Notice 3G Footwear Amendment: 05/01/16


Training sessions on the new William De Ferrers 3G pitch are due to start this evening, please note that FLAT SOLED TRAINERS ARE NOT ALLOWED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, if you have any questions regarding type of footwear suitable, please contact your team manager.


Development Squad and Superstrikers Update – Winter 15/16: 23/12/15


Today is our last session at Compass Gardens for a while. We will be moving to the fantastic new 3G Astroturf pitches at William De Ferrers (swimming pool) from Saturday 9th January 2016, which is the date of the next session after today. Same time 9.00 – 10.00 (please note we will have to finish just before 10.00 to allow the next team on the pitch so please get there before 9.00 so your child gets the maximum benefit).


Important footwear information for the 3G pitch:


Below is a guide for permitted footwear. Please note all footwear must be clean and fee of mud. The best option for young children is Astroturf trainers. Flat bottom, normal trainers are allowed but the children will have virtually no grip and may spend more time slipping over than playing football. If in doubt please message us via Facebook.













Information for parents of current school year 1 children


Once we get into 2016 we will breaking these children away to form our U6 squads, ready to start their footballing careers officially upon reaching school year 2. Our plan is to have two squads to enter into local FA affiliated leagues.  We will give more details of how it all works in the New Year.


Over Christmas we have some food for thought. Our club is run entirely by volunteers. No volunteers = No club = No football.


Please consider you own involvement as a parent. We will need at least one (but ideally two) people to run each squad. We provide all FA foundation training free of charge, along with plenty of local support. What better way to work off the Christmas indulgence? For more info please approach one of us or call.

For those of you playing at home tomorrow (friendly or competitive) please note that all pitches will be subject to an 8:00am pitch inspection due to the heavy rain. Please check the websites/Facebook tomorrow morning for confirmation that pitches are playable.

Manager/Coaches Required to Run Our U10 Eagles.


We are looking for persons willing to help out and assist our newly formed U10 Eagles.


After an impressive win this Sunday and the Help of the U10 Warriors/U9 Lions staff to get the team up and running, the club are looking to get a permanent manager in place.


The club will ensure all persons are CRB checked and provide free Level 1 coaching and First Aid certification.

AFC Woodham Launches 2 New Websites for The 2015/16 Season: 07/09/15


The club are pleased to announce the launch of 2 new websites for the 2015/16 season, we have created a much smaller club site this will act as a portal to the new pitchero.afcwoodham.co.uk site, a link can be found to the right hand side of the navigation bar, this site will keep all the match details, players stats, this will also allow to communicate better with players, parents and supporters, throughout the season.

Open Trials Cancelled:  07/07/15


Due to lack of interest possibly due to summer holidays, we have had to cancel the Open Trials scheduled for Thursday 23rd July, we will look to do something in the future.


Open Trials for Age Groups U8 to U11:  07/07/15


We will be holding Open Trials for age groups U8 to U11 on Thursday 23rd July at Meadowbank Park, adjacent to Meadow Croft Gaden Centre from 9:00 to 15:30,  all coaches are FA Qualified and have been CRC approved. If your child is interested please contact the club by email info@afcwoodham.co.uk

Important Club News Update:  18/06/15


AFC Woodham & Focus Ferrers to Join Forces


Both the towns Largest Youth Football Clubs, AFC Woodham & Focus Ferrers are now planning to join forces and form a new Club in South Woodham Ferrers.


After over a year of meetings and working together putting their cases forward for better facilities & working on a dedicated home for football in South Woodham Ferrers, both Clubs have agreed it would be more beneficial to gain funding from the FA, Sport England & provide a sturdy backing to work with the City Council for a purpose built venue in the Town.


From the start of the 2015-16 season will still see both Committees working with their own clubs, in addition to a joint committee working hard behind the scenes to ensure a smooth transition of all teams within both clubs merging in 2016-17 season.


One thing for sure is that both Clubs want as little disruption as possible and our aims are to keep all the same teams, players & coaches within the new Club together as they were.


A new name, logo & kit will be decided during the forthcoming season, and our first steps are to integrate both the AFC Superstrikers & Focus’ Development squads on a Saturday morning.


The merge will see 42 teams representing the new Club including development squad, Boys, Girls, Youth Football, U21, Adults & Vets teams.


Added to this the Club will be applying for FA Chartered Community Club status, a top status for all Youth Football Clubs.


To date both AFC Woodham & Focus Ferrers have been instrumental in securing a new 4G surface, currently under construction at South Woodham Leisure Centre and close communications have seen the pairing again working together to improve the playing areas at Saltcoats Park, meeting with the Town Council, Chelmsford City Councillors & Members of Parliament to put South Woodham’s poor footballing facilities on the Map.


From these meetings, extensive works are currently being carried out at Saltcoats Park to improve the playing surfaces.


Another project the Clubs are working on is to find a Footballing home for the Town.


A number of ideas have been put to the Council with a solid background of evidence to suggest this is the no.1 sporting majority for the town and both Clubs are confident they will be able to deliver good news very soon.


With both clubs sharing a ‘Football for all’ ethos this merge will see the town benefit from a well organised, well structured club with a clear vision for a better football facility in the town.
